Chargers win home opener 2-0

Cypress, CA - The Charger Men's Soccer team opened its season in style, beating Victor Valley 2-0. Cypress (1-0) starts the game fast on a goal from Freshman Lass Horn assisted from Sophomore Midfielder Brett MacKay just outside the penalty box. Then with 24 minutes left in the first half, Freshman Forward Ryan Jara is tripped inside the penalty box which prompts a penalty kick. Jara boots the kick to the right side to goal to give Cypress a 2-0 lead and the eventual final score. The Chargers take 11 shots, 5 shots on goals to the Rams' 10 and 1. Freshman Defender Brock Gustafson controls the defensive side and holds Victor Valley to only one shot on goal. 

The Chargers are at home on Friday against Glendale at 3PM on Haas Field.

Barber joins Men's Soccer staff

Cypress, CA - Charger Men’s Soccer Coach Ed Kephart announces that he adds Tony Barber to his staff.  Barber  coached the women’s program the last six seasons at Fullerton College.  His list of qualifications include Olympic Development Program, Club Coaching experiences and currently coaches one of the best U18 boys teams in California.  He played soccer at Hope International University.  
Tony has a great rapport with his athletes and a fantastic work ethic.  We expect Tony to add to what is already a fantastic coaching staff” said Kephart.
