Chargers bank on defense in victory over IVC 3-0

Defender Michael McKay
has 3 saves
Cypress, CA - The Chargers (4-1-3, 1-0) play perhaps the best soccer this season in defeating Irvine Valley (3-3-2, 0-1) in the conference home opener 3-0.  Cypress defeat IVC with solid defense: GK Tony Roman has 11 saves, Midfielder Luis Garcia has 2 saves and Defender Michael McKay has 3 saves and some key defensive clears. The defense frustrates IVC from the start as the lasers have to adjust their offense to make long shots.

Pedro Santos gets the Chargers on the board first by finding the net from 10 yards out from Brock Gustafson's pass to the middle at the 57th minute. It turns out that is all what the Chargers need for a victory, however at the 64th minute Midfielder Brandon Lemucchi slap shoots from 35 yards out to burn the net and gives the Chargers a 2-0 advantage. Cypress is not done with business as Forward Milan Engholm finds his way inside the penalty box and slaps the ball into the net unassisted at the 89th minute.

The Chargers travel to Santa Ana on September 28.
